Help from angels:

Hazrat Sahl bin Saad رضی اللہ عنہا told that Hazrat Abu Usaid  رضی اللہ عنہا who was blind once said that oh my nephew! I promise taking Allah as my witness, that if both of us would have been at the place of Badr and I had my sight with me, I would have shown you the valley from where angels appeared above us, and this is a fact without any doubt.

Hazrat Urwa رضی اللہ عنہا narrated that Hazrat Jibrael علیہ السلام appeared in the form of  hazrat Zubair  رضی اللہ عنہا in the battle of badr and was wearing a muslim turban(amama) of yellow color, part of which was placed on the shoulder. Hazrat Abbad bin Abdullah bin Zubair رضی اللہ عنہا said that Hazrat Zubair bin Awwam رضی اللہ عنہا was wearing an amama of yellow colour, and a part of this turban was placed on the shoulder. So all angels were wearing yellow turbans, also, Hazrat ibn abbas رضی اللہ عنہا said that on the day of badr, angels were wearing white amama and one end of this turban was left hanging on the back. On the day of Hunain, angels were wearing green amama and except the ghazwa at Badr, angels didn’t fight in any of the ghazwa(fight against non -Muslim oppressors). The angles only helped increase the number and helped the others who fight but these angels themselves didn’t fight. Hazrat Akarma رضی اللہ عنہا narrated that Hazrat Abu rafae  رضی اللہ عنہا who was the slave of the Prophet  Muhammad ﷺ said that I was the slave of  Hazrat abbas ibn mutalib  رضی اللہ عنہا and islam had come to those in our family, hence Hazrat Abbas  رضی اللہ عنہا, then umme fazal  رضی اللہ عنہا accepted Islam followed by my own acceptance of Islam. Also hazrat Abbas رضی اللہ عنہا feared his own people and kept his faith hidden. He was wealthy but his wealth was divided amongst his people.

Abu lahb did not come forward on the day of badr and instead in his place sent Aass bin hasham bin mughaira. Many of the enemies of Islam who themselves didn’t actively participate in the battle sent others in their place. So when news of the problems of the Qureshi brothers came to Abu Lahab ,( may Allah degrade and humiliate Abu Lahab) then us Muslims found strength and relief within themselves.

Also Abu rafae رضی اللہ عنہا narrated that I was a weak man, who made pots and carved these pots near the well of zam zam and hazrat umme fazal رضی اللہ عنہا was sitting next to me and when this news came to us then we were quite happy and then saw Abu lahab walking with mischief while dragging his feet towards the place where they were sitting.  Abu lahab then sat with his back to my back when suddenly Mughira bin Harris bin Abdul Muttalib said that Abu Sufyan has come. Abu Sufyan then sat next to Abu Lahab while all others were standing next to them.  Hazrat Abu Rafae narrates that Abu Lahab then said to Abu Sufyan, “oh my nephew, I swear upon my age that whatever news you bring to me is correct, so tell me how did you find your opponents at the battle of badr?” Hazrat Abu Sufyan said that “I swear on God that there is no news except this that we met our opponents and we surrendered to them so that they could harm kill or imprison us as they wanted. I swear on God that when we did this we didn’t say anything offensive to them. we met such men that were of white colour and were sitting on a horse that had black spots that were between the sky and the earth, I swear to God that those people can’t be described and nothing can stand against them. Hazrat Abu Rafae رضی اللہ عنہا then said that I opened that part of the tent that was in my hand and said I swear on God that these people were angels(malaika). Hazrat Abu Rafae  رضی اللہ عنہا then narrates that Abu Lahab then slapped very hard on my face and when I stood to face him, he pushed me and sat on me an began to beat me. I was a weak man so umme fazal took a piece of wood from the tent and hit Abu Lahab on the head such that his head was scarred and said that you have assumed this man to be weak just because his owner is not present. This mortified Abu Lahab and so he walked away. And I swear to God that Abu Lahab was alive for only the next seven days since Allah decreed his death on the hands of a tumor on his body that was like many pulses of masr.

Younis further narrates more than Ibn Ishaq that Abu Lahab’s sons didn’t bury him until three days after Abu Lahab’s death until he was stinking and Quraish took precautions against this disease that caused the death of Abu Lahab like one takes precautions against plague such that someone from the Quraish said to Abu Lahab’s sons that don’t you have any shame that your father is rotting here and you are not burying him. To which his sons replied that we fear that this disease may be contagious to which the other man replied that lets go I will help you in burying your father. I swear on God that both of his sons poured water from far away on the body of their father and hence Abu Lahab didn’t get a proper bath from being buried. After this they travelled up from the valley of Makkah and placed the body on the support of a wall and then placed sand over the body.

Auf bin abdul Rehman  رضی اللہ عنہا who was the slave of Umme barsen, narrates from those sahabi who had been present at the battle of Hunain that although at that time they opposed Islam, and said when we drew our swords against the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and made a circle around him, we saw that between us and the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ there are people standing, who have beautiful faces, and these people then threatened us that before your faces become ugly and destroyed run away and so we accepted defeat on these words only.( KHIYAT TAS SAHABA, GEEN SAUM, SAUDH: 597 to 599)
